Languages

With the concept of globalization in mind, and because we understand that communication in different languages is important and necessary nowadays, SOLA offers instruction in a wide array of languages such as Spanish, French, and ESL to name a few.

We offer reasonably priced programs ranging from individual lessons to small group classes. Classes can be held in the comfort of the student’s home or in our premises. Also, tutoring is available for students in elementary, middle school, high school and university levels. For people who are tight in schedule, are out of state or in other regions, we offer Skype sessions

SPANISH

There is no question that in the United States, one of the most practical options for those interested in learning a new language is Spanish. It’s the second-most spoken language in the country and the dominant tongue of many communities along the U.S.-Mexico border, South Florida and Puerto Rico. It’s the language of most of our neighboring countries in the Western Hemisphere. And it just sounds really cool. Statistics show that by 2050 United States will be the first Spanish-speaking country in the world. Spanish (español, castellano) belongs to the Romance branch of the Indo-European language family. Like all Romance languages, Spanish developed from Vulgar Latin in an area of the Iberian peninsula that is now Spain, and was brought to the Americas, the Philippines, and parts of Oceania by the Spanish colonization in the 16th century. FRENCH

Using French enhances your travel abroad to Canada, the Caribbean, Europe and Africa. France is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the world. Paris was recently named by Fortune Magazine as one of the top ten "global cities." When you speak French, you can be an educated tourist, ask for directions, get your own hotel room or tell a French friend about the United States. French is the language of culture, opening your door to art, music, dance, fashion, cuisine, and cinema.

French (français) belongs to the Romance branch of the Indo-European language family. Like all Romance languages, it developed from Vulgar Latin spoken by the Roman invaders. Before the Roman invasion of what is France today, the territory was inhabited by a Celtic people whom the Romans called Gauls. (www.aboutworldlanguages.com)

TEEN PROGRAM

Our teens’ program is intended for those students who are willing to go beyond the school curriculum and perfect the language. As part of this program, twice a year we offer an Introductory Spanish Language Class (for all those kids that are going to have a second language class for the first time at school. The purpose of which is to help them feel comfortable with the target language as they start classes in school.

We also offer ESL crash courses for 'out of the country' teens who want improve their skills while visiting family and friends.

CHILDREN PROGRAM

Children are the most important group for us. Recently we have learned that bilingualism in children is very important. Research strongly supports the benefits of bilingualism in language, literacy, social, and cognitive development. For example, bilingual children have performed better than monolingual speakers on measures of analytical ability, concept formation, cognitive flexibility, and metalinguistic skills. At the same time, because of the brain plasticity in children, the probability of acquiring native pronunciation as well as proficiency in that language is greater.

Our mission is to encourage kids to learn in a creative, active and fun way. At SOLA, our children learn a language progressively, going from simple vocabulary and integrating it with simple structure. Then, everything that has been learned is applied in context through different activities, such as painting, singing, working out, etc.
